The Bavarian capital is the third largest city in Germany with over 1.2 million inhabitants, as well as an important cultural and economic centre. It stands on the River Isar and is known for its historic buildings, numerous museums and beautiful baroque and renaissance churches. Visitors come from all over the world to the famous annual Oktoberfest. Visit one of the many Munich bier cellars for some real Bavarian entertainment. Finding your way to and from the airport

Car:

The airport is very close to the A92 between Munich and Deggendorf and has over four direct exits from the motorway. From the South or East you take the Munich ring road (A99) to the A92. Journey time is around 40 minutes.

Rail:

Lines S1 and S8 depart from the airport to the city centre via the east and main stations, where you can then connect to long-distance and regional trains of German Railways (Deutsche Bahn (DB)).

Taxi:

There are taxi ranks at Terminal 1 on the E04 arrivals and departures level directly in front of modules A-E, at Terminal 2 on the drive-up bay for buses and taxis north of the E03 arrivals level and the E04 departures level, as well as on level E03 north of the main concourse.

Hire cars:

There are centrally-located Sixt and Avis rental locations at all Germanwings destinations. Reserve your car here and get great bargains.

At the airport

The airport is 28 km north-east of Munich. The central information desk is on level 3.

NB: with immediate effect Germanwings flights at Munich Airport take off and land at Terminal 1, zone D. This should make route through to departure shorter and more comfortable.

Germanwings Airport Sales open from Monday to Sunday 6:20 am - 8:30 pm.

Check - In counters open 2 hours prior departure.

Parking:

There are many facilities for short-term, long-term and holiday parking.
